Scholarships

The Arkansas Association of Instructional Media promotes the advancement of School Librarianship through two annual scholarships which are presented at the Annual Conference. The Heloise Griffon and the Margaret Crank Amps Scholarships are awarded to assist educators employed in Arkansas schools while completing coursework leading to a master’s degree in library media education. Each scholarship is valued at $1000.00.  ​

Heloise Griffon Scholarship Winners

The Heloise Griffon Scholarship is named in honor of a past Director of the Audiovisual Services for the Department of Education.


Margaret Crank Amps Scholarship Winners

The Margaret Crank Amps Scholarship is named in honor of a past Public School Program Advisor for the Library Media Services at the Arkansas Department of Education.

The Arkansas Association of Instructional Media is currently accepting applications for the Heloise Griffon and Margaret Crank Amps Scholarships. 

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  1. Be enrolled in a master’s program leading to a degree in library media education and must have successfully completed 6 hours. 
  2. Provide an official transcript of graduate course record with a 2.5 or higher point average (based on a 4.0 scale).
  3. Provide a letter of recommendation from the administrator under whom the applicant is currently employed. If the applicant has no previous employment record, then he/she should submit a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s instructor.
  4. Upon receiving the scholarship, complete within a period of one year, a minimum of three (3) semester hours in a program leading to a master’s degree in library media education. 
  5. Submit to the Chairman of the Scholarship committee a copy of transcript, indicating completion of the three semester hours of instruction, within one year of receiving scholarship.
    Failure to provide the committee with a copy of final transcript may result in the forfeiture of the scholarship and repayment of funds received.

A completed application, along with an official transcript and administrator’s letter of recommendation, is due by the deadline established by the Scholarship Committee. The award is $1000.00
